8...Nf5 9.Kf1 [9.Na4 Bb4+ 10.Bd2 Qa5 11.Bc3 b5 12.a3 Bxc3+ 13.Nxc3 b4 14.axb4 Qxb4 15.Bb5 Bd7= Dunhaupt-Rittner, CC, 1974.]

9...Bd7 [Another Nyman game in the Purdy Memorial (against Ozols) went: 9...h5 10.h4 Be7 11.Na4 Qd8 12.Rh3 Bd7 13.Bg5 Rc8 14.Rc1 b5 15.Nc5 Qb6 16.Bxe7 Kxe7 17.Qd2 a5 18.Bd3 Ncxd4 19.Nxd4 Nxd4 20.Qg5+ Ke8 21.Qxg7 Rf8 22.Qxf8+!? with White eventually content to draw with two rooks and bishop versus queen and knight. 10.Na4 Qd8 11.h4! Be7 12.h5 b5!? 13.Nc3 Qb6 14.h6 gxh6 15.Nxb5 Rg8! Logical. Holds the Nf5 position, and therefore d4 will fall to Black.

16.Nc3 Ncxd4 17.Nxd4 Qxd4 18.Qxd4 Nxd4 19.Bd3 Nc6 20.Rh5! Nb4! 21.Bxh7 Rg7 22.Rxh6 Not really an ending, more a prolongation of the middle game without queens. It's very good for Black, whose play unfolds beautifully.

22...d4! 23.Be4 0-0-0 24.Ne2 Bb5 25.Bd2 Bg5! A surprise move.

26.Bxg5 Rxg5 27.Rc1+ Kb8 28.Rc5 Ba6 29.Ke1 f5! 30.Nxd4! The best chance.

30...fxe4 31.Nxe6 Rxe5! 32.Nxd8 [32.Rxe5?? Nc2# ]

32...Rxc5 33.a3 Nc2+ 34.Kd2 Bd3 35.Ne6 Rf5 36.f4?! Permitting a pretty finish a little later.

36...Rd5 37.Kc3 Ne3 38.b4 Nd1+ 39.Kd2 Bf1+! 40.Ke1 Nc3! 41.Kxf1 e3 Exciting chess! 0-1
